Shell is sliced to under a millimetre and set into grooves carved to fit, ground flush with the wood so a fingertip finds no step; fine metal wire inlaid into its own channels draws the outlines of the design. From raw block to finished comb takes ten days or more. Shell and wood each take light their own way, so every comb differs slightly in figure and glow.

Details & Dimensions

Title: Mother-of-Pearl Comb
Subject: Comb · Everyday object
Mediums: Purple sandalwood and mother-of-pearl shell.
Craft: Mother-of-pearl shell inlay.
Rarity: Each comb is inlaid by hand; natural variation in wood grain and shell color
Size: Approx. 120 × 50 × 12 mm. Wipe with a soft cloth and give the wood a thin film of oil from time to time — a little goes a long way. Do not use chemical cleaners. Don't press the teeth sideways, and keep the shell away from hard knocks.

Shipping & Returns

Preparation: 7–10 business days.
Estimated transit after dispatch: 8–12 business days.

Shipping policy · Returns & refunds

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0674/0790/4822/files/mother-of-pearl-comb-floral-motif-01.webp?v=1793335488
